Any idea what would cause the cotter pin to break and the nut to back off?  The loose hub is wollored out so its trash and the axle splines show a little wear.   I'm going to replace the hub and I'm curious how much play is acceptable before I need to replace the axle?

It is a hand-me-down from my father in law.  He bought it new and uses it on his farm.  I thought it was strange too since both back tires are new and it should have been noticed when they were changed.  When I took the wheel off the hub nut was loose and the cotter pin was in three pieces laying in the wheel dust cap.  There was some rust on the axle splines so it was loose for a while.  To be safe I replaced the hub and it was still a bit looser than it should be so I have an axle on order.

Sounds like we're alike. I can't stand things not being right on any of my stuff either. Hope it works out for you. Unfortunately many dealerships have a shortage of qualified people. Changing tires is considered simple so it probably got done by the least skilled guy there.

Anyone have bad experience with these clutch kits?  Looking to get one for an 80s quad that I have.

I have an Axis 500 made by Hisun.  I uses a solid rear gearbox with no differential action.
I would like to convert this to a true differential with locking ability.  I've searched all over trying to find a source with no luck.
Has anyone done this before, or know of a source?
      Thanks,  Tom

I get it, turn counterclockwise will decrease, turn clockwise will increase.  My question is what exactly am i increasing or decreasing? Is it clutch pressure? In many videos i've seen it's always "turn counterclockwise" until you feel resistance then back off. Why is it always to decrease?
I'm just curious as to what exactly is going on when i turn that screw right or left. And, since there's no manual clutch to engage or disengage, what is going on inside?
Reason why i'm asking is while going down a hill in 1st gear, it appears to pops out of gear, but no neutral light, and if i stop, it's in 1st gear still. BUT, (always a but) if the engine is warmed up, it stays in 1st gear. The hill is too steep to use any other gear, so 1st with the brakes is the only way to go down.
