I am planning on buying a four wheeler within 2 months. I have only ridden a few times in the last three years. Im looking for something that isn't going to need a lot of up keep. Deciding between 300ex, 400ex, wolverine 350 manual or maybe a warrior?

I even kinda like the idea of a 250 ex i know it wont have a ton of power but its not chain driven so up keep will be lower and its kinda sporty looking.

what are some of your thoughts? any other atvs you can reccomend?

I used to ride a lot when i was younger

Thanks

I haven't been on a 250 but a 300cc bike has plenty of power for most people unless you are just racing. It will still run really well. Mine will do 50 something and it has plenty of power to get my approx 200lb but going. It also depends on what type of riding your going to do.

I would go with the 400EX out of all of those. It will give you the most room to grow. I think the smaller bikes will leave you wanting more after a while. The Suzuki LTZ 400 is a very good bike and it has two clones, the Kawi KFX 400 and the Artic Cat DVX 400. Those are water cooled where the 400EX is air cooled, and they perform better all the way around. They are great trail machines.

out f those quads i would go with the warrior/raptor350 for reliability...they have proven themselfs bulletproof...chain driven isnt really all that much upkeep either...just make sure to lube it and you'll be good ..anything smaller than a 350 would be way to small for an adult...

Dude I really wish you lived closer. I would take you out and show you what a 250 Ozark would do to you in the many wooded areas we ride in. But since its a 250 it probabley would not get out of its own way.

oh i hear ya i do believe taht the ozark is a decent quad when looking at the 250's ...but the performance factor is just not there....if you ever wanted to open it up you wouldnt be going all that fast.. i would have to say that a quad like that would be better suited for a begginer or someone who just wants to putt around....

Tell you what if a 250r and Moded 400EX can hardly keep with me in the woods. That would not be "OPEN IT UP" would it? By the way next time you are out trail riding , how fast do you really need to go. With all the trails being closed, I don't see where the speed topic really helps us here in the real world.

So Roody JR enough of this we are getting way off topic.

hey hey...you cant compare me to roody at all....im just saying the trails that i ride in im able to open my 700r up to fifth...like 60+mph...

Nope..... I Had My Buddy Follow Me In His Truck And I Ran 100 To 103 On Flat Road. Banshee's Are (easy) To Gain Top End Power. Remember They Have 2 Cylnders So U Double The Power When U Modd It Up. They Also Are Geard For Top End Speed And They Have A Flat Botton End Power Range. And Yea I'll Run 80+ Through Open Trails It Dont Scare Me.

i believ that...i hit 76mph on a stck 700r...ive modded it a bit with an exhaust intake and fi controller so i just cant wait to see what kind of gain im gonna get....and as for riding that ast on the trails ...you only live once...theres nothing like riding on the edge..im getting older now and feel that i can handle that kind of speed allot easier than i used to,,,

well i would hate to see you on the trails cuz i only ride MAYBE a max of 30-35

its just too dangerous.

hit a root.

blam-o

your done

:aargh:*tree*

the trails i ride on are pretty good not too many stumps and roots sticking out...the odd bird that i have to hit to take home for dinner ...lol i think i hit like 4 last season...lol and by birds i mean grouse...not crows lol

Strict has nothing to do about it. It could respect to the origanal poster. Sure one or to replies off topic thats fine. More than a dozen off topic replies here. I 'm guilty on this thread to. So start a speed topic already.

So we are almost a month into winter and I've been so busy working on my house that up until today, I didn't realize that we just haven;t gotten any real snow yet to warrant putting the plow on my grizzly. So that got me thinking, what are the latest plows out there and what ATV plows are the best? I've got 2 snow plows for my grizzly, a quadboss pile driver atv plow set up and a snowsport ATV plow. They are both a bit dated now and I tend to stick with the snowsport due to ease of use and I just like it so much. So if you have a plow on your ATV, please let us know what it is and post a picture with your atv/plow would be awesome. Would also like to know what you like and dislike about it.
This is back a while when I did a write up on these 2 plows.... in 2009 I got the snowsport and in 2012 I got the quadboss.

I have a Sportsman 450 HO and almost killed my self when loading it on my truck with ramps.  It rolled off the top of the ramps and tailgate and nearly landed on me.  I now want to winch the ATV in to the truck.  My question is are the front side bed tiedowns in my 2011 RAM strong enough to winch to without distorting the hooks or sides of the bed?
