98 400 prairie water pump

Can someone tell me if there is a trick to getting the impeller off..the manual I have is not very clear.. tia

Hey jerr welcome to QC. There really is no trick to it.  The cover comes off and the impeller is attached to a shaft that is a separate part. Maybe it’s a little stuck. Pull on it it should come out. Either way go to the downloads section of this site you will find the manual for that bike. The 400 Kawasaki bayou 98 model is the same engine. That’s the bike I have and I have changed it.  So that manual will work as well.

If that does not work try to turn the impeller clockwise some models have left hand threads. That should do it also should the shaft not come out.

Well I've tried pulling and turning and still  won't budge..im afraid if I pull any harder it's gonna break..

Ok I looked up the page and attached it for you use. 98 models are definitely left hand thread. Take a look.

Good luck. Pay attention to the reinstall, the manufacturers are very specific about touching the surfaces of the seals with your fingers. Wear rubber gloves And handle with care or you will be pulling it out again.  👍

It was just really stuck..not threaded on ..fyi
