I have a 04 LTZ 400 I just picked up. It's completely stock as far as I know besides an upgraded k&n style air filter. I recently flushed all the fluids and cleaned the carb out as well as replacing the main jet o ring that was corroded and replaced the spark plug. The issue I'm having is that the bike starts right up and idles perfect and revs fine at any rpm when u hit the throttle but as soon as it's warm, if you hit the throttle quickly it will bog and sometimes die. If you gradually increase the throttle at a smooth rate it revs fine. What could be the issue?

Sounds like   the accelerator  pump isn't working properly.

Can you give me more details on this, where it's located, what it does and where I can get it? Also how difficult to replace? Thanks.

Sorry ,  I  can't help  with  it, but  there  should be  lots of  information on the  net  if you search on  it ..  Bogging  on acceleration  was very  common   on cars  and utility  vehicles that  relied on accelerator  pumps to momentarily  enrich the  mixture  when  the throttle  was  opened quickly. The accelerator  pump  will  be  a  part of the  carburettor.. it  may be operated  by the  vacuum "can"  on the Suzuki's  carb..  One  the older  cars and  carbs on some  ATVs it was an actual  plunger in a "tube"  in the  carb  that  gave a  small  shot of  gas when the  throttle  was opened ..  on other  carbs , it  is a  needle  valve that   is opened   by the  movement  of the  throttle  or  a vacuum can.

Fortunately  I  haven't had to  get into the  carbs or ignition/  electrical  systems on my  quad  (Honda) or  my  friends Suzuki, so  I  can't give you  first  hand advice  on  working on them.  I  can  only  give  you  a  clue  where  to  look  for a possible  solution to the problem.

I can't say for sure which parts on your carb are bad. Problem could be caused by something else as well. What I would do would be tear the carb off and check the accelerator pump out. It might just need the diaphragm, but you won't know until you look at it. Also inspect your main diaphragm (#8) for any cracks.

I'll do that, thanks again!!

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!

I have a 2002 Kawasaki Prairie KVF 400 and im trying to figure out the actual float height... i have read 17mm +- 2mm, seen 13mm and 23mm... what is happening is it will start right up, rev a little and all is fine, when it warms and you put a load on it bogs down and sputters. no i don't have a manual

My name says it all. I have a '03 Honda Sporttrax 400EX with a new aftermarket carb on it that seems to be having issues. I can start it but it idles really rough and when I give it throttle it just kills the engine. I have tried adjusting the idle screw but to no avail. I am in the San Diego Ca area.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I would also like to get an owners manual for the thing too but can't seem to find a downloadable one.

So I’ve got a 2000 Honda 400ex absolutely love it!! I’ve had it for about a month, I ride with bruteforce 750’s, outlander 850’s and 1000 sxs’s and I was thinking of getting a trx450r carb and a full hmf exhaust. And probably doing the air box mod too, how much power would this give my 400? Just a little different or a big difference? Cuz if it’s not much of a different I’ll just stick with my dg slip on..... thanks!
